Karmandal Express accident at Baleshwar is still fresh in memory even today. Karmandal Express, which was traveling at a speed of about 128 km per hour at that time, got twisted like a toy car due to the sudden impact. The engine of Karmandal Express climbed over and a few coaches of Karamandal Express derailed and hit Bangalore-Howrah Yeswantpur Express. Due to the derailment of Karamandal Express, two cars of Yeshwantpur Express were knocked down and fell into nearby Nayanjuli. However, Karmandal Express was the worst affected in that accident. This horror even today still haunts whenever a news of Derailment of an Express Train is heard.
The accident site as being investigated trains which are scheduled to be in that route is being diverted so that the passengers may reach their Destination on time without getting delayed. Even as per sources alternative arrangements were made to the Passengers of Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express so that they can reach their terminal place. The question arises in the past 2 years why Train Accidents are being common that too one occurring in each and every month more or less? What measures are being taken by the Indian Railway Higher Officials regarding this matter?
