News Desk, Kolkata :  In the chill of Magh, Kolkata shivers beneath the cool embrace of winter. From dawn, the residents of the city, wrapped in layers, navigate the brisk temperatures. The cold is even more pronounced in the districts. The weather office declares Monday as Kolkata’s coldest day of the season, with a sudden drop to 12.1 degrees Celsius from 15.2 degrees in Alipore.

Notably, Bankura has experienced an additional nip in the air, courtesy of Dam Dam. Today, the temperature in Bankura reads 11.2 degrees, while Dam Dam records a minimum of 10.8 degrees. Salt Lake boasts a minimum temperature of 11.3 degrees. Purulia, West Bardhaman, and Birbhum bear the brunt of the cold with Purulia reaching 7.1 degrees. Asansol-Shriniketan is not far behind at 9 degrees.

The plains of North Bengal too are shivering in the cold. Kalimpong has received a touch of frost, as has Cooch Behar. Kalimpong’s temperature now stands at 8.5 degrees, whereas Cooch Behar registers a chilling 6.1 degrees. Despite the cold, dry weather prevails. Tuesday and Wednesday hint at scattered light showers, possibly reaching Kolkata as well.

Meanwhile, Sunday witnessed the anticipation of rain in seven districts of South Bengal. However, the expected precipitation did not materialize. Yet, the resilient Bengali in the face of drizzles continues to navigate the roads with caution, mindful of the unpredictable weather. The prospect of rain may linger on Wednesday in Kolkata.

As Sunday unfolded in the southern districts of Bengal, the promise of rain lingered. However, the actual sight of rain remained elusive. Yet, the indomitable spirit of the Bengali persists, with cautious driving on the damp roads. The weather on Sunday reflects the same scenario, with a mix of chill and caution.

The aura of anticipation hovers over South Bengal on Sunday, with the promise of rain in seven districts. Despite the lack of a downpour, the resilient spirit of the Bengali endures, with cautious driving on damp roads. The morning conditions continue to mirror the same blend of chill and caution.

As the cold of Magh casts its spell, Bengal quivers in its wintry embrace. The visual spectacle is less pronounced, but the essence of the season is captured in every quiver and shiver that resonates across the landscape. The chilling touch of Magh reverberates through every street, every district, and every heart in Bengal.
