NIN News Desk : Five parturients were given saline after caesarean section. Allegedly, the five pregnant women fell ill at Midnipur Medical College on Wednesday night. On Thursday, three people were put on ventilation in the HDU in a critical condition and treatment was started immediately.

A mother named Mamni Ruidas (22) died there on Friday morning. After that the noise spread across the state, allegations have been made that the pregnant woman fell sick and died after being given saline made by a blacklisted company. The deceased Mamni’s house is in Sarga village in Medinipur district.According to the Health Department, adverse reactions to Ringer’s Lactate (RL) saline manufactured by a private company called ‘West Bengal Pharmaceuticals’ in Siliguri are responsible for the death. Last month, the Karnataka government blacklisted the company for supplying substandard RL in connection with the deaths of five pregnant women in Karnataka.

A few days ago, there was a complaint about Ringer’s Lactate made by the company in the Baruipur Divisional Hospital of South 24 Parganas. On December 10th 2024, the drug control ordered the company to stop production and supply. After that, the question arises as the organization has already supplied RL to the hospital. Two separate investigation committees have been formed from the state health department and drug control in the incident.

The first has seven members and the second has six members.Medinipur Medical College was visited by the investigation committee of drug control on Friday. Today i.e. on Saturday, the members of the committee formed by the health department are scheduled to visit Medinipur Medical College Hospital. Drug control’s initial suspicion is that RL is the real villain. Therefore, the Health Department has ordered all government hospitals to stop using a total of 14 types of drugs and saline (which are also blacklisted in Contai) including Ringer’s Lactate manufactured by that organization.

Now the question that arises mainly why even after getting blacklisted were able to supply in Government Hospitals, who will be held responsible? Not only that those who are involved in this heinous act should be arrested Immediately with proper Investigation.
