NIN Web Desk : (Dr. subhrojyoti chattopadhyay); Most booth polls indicate that the BJP is set to come to power in Delhi by defeating Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (UP). UP is unwilling to give up until the final results are announced on Tuesday.
Pointing to the outcome of the Boothferat survey in neighboring Haryana three and a half months ago, the party leaders claimed that the ‘exit poll’ is not an ‘exact’ result. The history of polling in India shows that booth polls often do not match the actual results at all. But there are also examples of matching results but have to wait till the counting day next Saturday (February 8) to know the actual result.
On Wednesday, however, all parties claimed victory in the war. Polling for 70 assembly seats in Delhi took place on Wednesday. There the ‘magic number’ of absolute superiority is 36. In the evening, booth return survey results were released by various organizations. As a result of most surveys, Kejriwal will not be able to achieve a hat trick of victory. Most surveys showed that the BJP (including allies) between 35 and 50 seats.
In Delhi, AAP, Congress and Mayawati’s BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) are contesting in all 70 seats in Delhi this time. Whereas on the other hand, BJP has fielded candidates in 68 seats. Two allies of NDA, JDU and LJP (Rambilas) have left one seat each. In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP won 62 seats by getting nearly 53 percent votes. BJP won in 8. The Congress returned empty-handed with just 4.26 percent votes.
It is not clear whether the Congress will be able to open its account this time as well. The party in power from 1998 to 2013 has been given a ‘zero’ in several Boothferat surveys.
