The attack took place on Friday midnight at the Thakurdwara temple in Khandwala. As this attack happened in the middle of the night, the area was deserted. So no one was injured in the grenade attack.
However, the sound of the explosion spread panic among the locals. The CCTV footage of the grenade attack on the temple has already come to light. The police said that they are also looking into whether Pakistan has any connection in this attack.
The police came to the spot after receiving information about the explosion. The priest was inside the temple at the time of the grenade attack. Although he was not injured, according to police sources, Amritsar Police Commissioner GPS Bhullar said about the incident, ‘We got the news around 2 am. As soon as we got the news, we came to the temple. Forensic experts were also called, we examined the CCTV footage of the area as well as speak to local residents. Pakistan’s ISI may be involved in this attack. He said that those involved in the incident will be arrested soon. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann strongly condemned the incident. He said that such a conspiracy is being made to destabilize the law and order situation in the state.
On Friday, there was also an attack on the Golden Temple in Amritsar. One person was attacked with an iron rod and five people were injured in the incident. Accommodation for pilgrims was provided at Sri Guru Ramdas Sarai on the premises of the Golden Temple. The attack was carried out there only.
