NIN Web Desk : (Dr subhrojyoti chattopadhyay); After nearly 26,000 teachers and education workers lost their jobs on the Supreme Court order, protests have protested across the state. The unemployed held a protest by locking the DI office. During that protest, pictures of police kicking them came to light. But this time the scale of the movement is bigger. The unemployed have surrounded the entire Karunamoyee campus. A hunger strike is underway. What action will be taken now?
Last time, the police and the administration said that the police were forced to do that work. But this time, the Education Minister himself announced that no force would be used. The protests entered their second day on Tuesday. And in the midst of the protests, Education Minister Bratya Basu faced reporters. There, he said, “We will not take any strict action. We have not used any force so far.”
However, the police have already made it clear that it is not legal to obstruct their work. Bratya Basu’s plea is, “You should protest. Don’t put anyone’s life in danger.” He also assured that “the entire education department will work for you.” Addressing the jobless, the Education Minister further said, “SSC is fighting for you. The government is by your side. Cooperate with us. Let us do our work. You do your work.”
