NIN Web Desk : Dr subhrojyoti chattopadhyay; Today, World Kidney Day was celebrated in different parts of the state, people from different levels of the state and government hospitals came forward. Kolkata Medical College and Hospital was not lagging behind in kidney awareness today, they took several programs today. MSVP of Calcutta Medical College Dr Anjan Adhikari, Principal Indranil Biswas along with Head of various departments Doctors were present in this program. Students and junior doctors of different departments of Calcutta Medical College were also present on this day.
On this day for kidney awareness, doctors and authorities directly talked to the patients and to their families to convey the message of awareness.
On this day, Calcutta Medical College Superintendent cum Vice Principal (MSVP) Dr. Anjan Adhikari said, “We are paying more attention to children’s kidney. Also, many programs including drawing competition, poetry cover were taken up in the college today.” MSVP Dr Anjan Adhikari also said, “Keeping in mind the treatment of kidney, an application has been made to the government for the construction of another kidney (nephrology) department. Where all types of kidney treatment can be done.”
Principal Indranil Biswas at Calcutta Medical College said, “Nowadays, kidney diseases are increasing in large numbers, of which 40 percent are due to uncontrolled heart disease, and 40 percent are due to uncontrolled diabetes. The rest are directly due to kidney diseases, if we can raise awareness there then all the patients who are in the first stage, even if they cannot be cured by treatment, this disease can be controlled. At the same time, if we can test the amount of creatine or other things in the blood, we can control the diet first after which proper treatment can be given”. He also said, “Kidney diseases cannot be completely cured but can be brought under control. Keeping that in mind, these multiple programs today will create an awareness and in the mere future also.”
