NIN Web Desk : (Dr subhrojyoti chattopadhyay); Several families have been forced to flee from the turbulent areas of Murshidabad to Malda. About 500 people have taken shelter in a school in Vaishnavnagar, Malda, from Dhulian, Shamsherganj. Allegedly, their houses have been vandalized and set on fire. Even Poison has been added in the water so that if they drink they will die. They have somehow managed to escape from their homes with the help of the BSF.

A woman said, “We have come here in great distress. We have no house, no room. They have set fire to all the belongings of the house. They have poured petrol and had set fire to the house. They have put poison in the water tank. What will we eat? How will we survive? We came yesterday afternoon.” Another woman said, “They broke the tank so that they won’t allow us to drink water. They ruined the rice, ruined the muri, ruined biscuits nd everything. Three children haven’t eaten since morning, all of us in the family are starving. We came here and ate, we fled in fear. They burned down all the houses we had there. We fled because the BSF was there.”

Meanwhile, in the Ratanpur area of Dhulian, Murshidabad is still in a state of chaos. Empty roads, most of the shops are closed. Burnt police vehicles are still lying on the road. This morning, a medicine store opened after the police assured the fair. That store was also vandalized the day before yesterday. Even though the shop opened, the owner is in panic. Customers said that they are facing problems as several medicine stores in the area are closed. On the other hand, a sweet shop in Dhulian Bazar was extensively vandalized. Pictures of that shop being cleaned today could be seen. BSF has been patrolling the streets since this morning. Police also conducted a route march. On the other hand, signs of vandalism are still visible at the house of Farakka Trinamool MLA Monirul Islam. Not only that as per reports, different types of weapons are being provided in areas of Murshidabad.

Question arises that the Police isn’t doing any work like that so does the BSF. If they had been active then people wouldn’t had to leave their own house. They wouldn’t had to take shelter in Malda, things are still heated. Situation isn’t getting cold rather still burning like Hell, when will the situation be normalised?
