Sandeshkhali, Bengal’s ‘Dawood’ Sk.Shahjahan, isn’t alone; investigation reveals another name, Shibprasad Hazra! Who is this individual?

The second part of the Bengal political narrative revolves around Sheikh Shahjahan, who is likened to a tiger in the local political context. While some associate him with the bravery of the Sundarbans tigers, others use the term metaphorically, highlighting his aggressive political tactics.

In the realm of Bengal politics, “tiger” symbolizes the fearless leaders of the liberation war, such as keshto Mondal or Anubrata Mondal. However, calling Sheikh Shahjahan a tiger can also be seen as a derogatory comparison to the wild and aggressive behavior of jungle tigers. Some even suggest referring to him as a hyena due to his perceived cruelty.

Despite the symbolic association with the tiger, Sk.Shahjahan finds himself entangled in controversies and accusations. The narrative indicates that he holds significant political influence in the North 24 Parganas district, being involved in various leadership roles.

The narrative takes a turn to a darker tone as it sheds light on the unfortunate and horrifying incident in Sandeshkhali on January 5th, implicating Sheikh Shahjahan. Allegations suggest that his supporters attacked officials of the Central Intelligence Bureau and law enforcement agencies.

The narrative unveils a complex web of power struggles, with ‘Sk Shahjahan’ holding positions as the district head and Anubrata Mondal as the chairman of the district council. Their political dominance extends into the realms of crime and darkness, creating a controversial empire.

As the narrative unfolds, it introduces another character, Shibu, possibly referring to  Shiva Prasad Hazra, who holds influential positions in both the ‘Jila Parishad’ and the district council. The story suggests that the political landscape is entwined with crime and power dynamics, raising concerns about the state of governance.

The mention of Sagarde, also known as Shibu, adds another layer of intrigue, hinting at the creation of a vast empire spanning North 24 Parganas, driven by political maneuverings and alleged criminal activities.

The narrative takes a journalistic approach, highlighting the importance of accurate information and investigative reporting to uncover the truth behind the Sandeshkhali incident. It underscores the impact of political power and corruption on the lives of ordinary people in the region.

In the midst of political controversies, the story touches upon the involvement of ‘Sheikh Shahjahan’ and his alleged partner Shibu in land encroachments, hotel businesses, and even illegal activities like sex racket and fish farming. The allegations point towards a systematic abuse of power and exploitation of resources.

Significantly, current Kolkata residents Vishweshwar Pramanik and Ratneshwar Pramanik, whose present residence Salt Lake, allege that Shibprasad Haldar and Sheikh Shahjahan forcibly seized large plots of land and property after eviction.

Not only here, but also on the western side of the river in the Jhalkhali region, it is claimed that 75 acres of land and 10 acres of garden and poultry farms have been forcefully occupied. The same source reports unfair seizure in the cattle grazing cycle and multiple brick kilns.

According to sources, Sheikh Shahjahan has instilled fear and taken away land by force. The explosion site is reported to be 140 acres of Mouza 44, whose actual owners are Rajat Kumar Raychowdhury, Bimal Kumar Raychowdhury, and Kanchan Ray Chowdhury, who currently reside in central Kolkata.

The narrative delves into the intricacies of land acquisitions and encroachments, emphasizing the exploitation of government-allocated plots and the illegal seizure of properties, both private and public.

The story broadens its scope to the western part of Bengal, revealing instances of forced occupation of land, illegal business activities, and unfair practices in the name of poverty alleviation programs.

As the narrative unfolds, it becomes apparent that the accusations extend beyond political figures like Sheikh Shahjahan to encompass a broader network involved in illegal land acquisitions, unscrupulous business dealings, and exploitation of vulnerable communities.

Although a investigative team has been formed in the Calcutta High Court to bring this incident to light, that is, to form an SIT, consisting of impartial investigators from the senior ranks of the West Bengal Police and the Central Intelligence Bureau (CBI). Even though no officials from the Sandeshkhali police station are included in this team, the intention is for a fair investigation. Now the question remains whether this SIT, formed in the court, can truly bring the culprits to justice and impose exemplary punishment? Currently, people are placing their trust in the judiciary of Bengal.

The narrative concludes by raising questions about the efficacy of the ongoing investigation and the role of the judiciary in holding those responsible for corruption and illegal activities accountable. It reflects the hope that the judicial system will stand as a beacon of justice in the face of complex political and criminal entanglements.
