NIN Web Desk : (Dr subhrojyoti chattopadhyay) ; The Congress has termed the death of 26 people in a terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgaon as an “Attack on India”. The party’s All India President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Wednesday, “In this situation, the Centre should call an all-party meeting and review the issue.”

Home Minister Amit Shah flew to Jammu and Kashmir on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after 26 tourists were killed in a terrorist attack by The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow organization of Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgaon, a tourist destination in Anantnag district, on Tuesday afternoon. At a press conference in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Kharge said, “I spoke to the Home Minister after he reached Kashmir yesterday. He assured of immediate necessary measures.”

The Congress President said that he also spoke to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and the leader of the National Conference, an ally of the Congress. Kharge also gave a clear message that in this situation of crisis, the Congress is not in favor of provoking any controversy for political gain. He said, “Now is the time for political unity. When the entire nation is in mourning, there should be no attempt to identify anyone’s failure.” During the UPA government, the BJP criticized the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for “security negligence” during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and the Delhi blasts. The Congress President set an exceptional precedent in the Pahalgaon incident.
