Teacher Recruitment Scam Unveiled: Madhyamik Exam Shrouded in Controversy

In West Bengal, a dark cloud of corruption teacher recruitments, leading to a scandal that has engulfed the entire state. The controversy, however, extends beyond just recruitment as the safety net of vigilance failed during last year’s Madhyamik Pariksha, the secondary education examination.

From the very first day of the Madhyamik Pariksha, starting with Bengali, followed by English, and then history, question papers were leaked, causing a ripple effect of turmoil across the state. Despite efforts to secure the question papers with a special code implemented by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, the saga of malpractice persisted.

On the day of the English exam, and subsequently the history exam, question papers were once again compromised. The intensity of the situation prompted widespread protests and unrest throughout the state. While some individuals were apprehended in connection with the leaked papers, the core perpetrators remained elusive.

Even in the ongoing year, the Madhyamik Pariksha has been marred by severe irregularities. A dedicated WhatsApp group was established to distribute leaked question papers, demonstrating a sophisticated level of coordination among those involved in the malpractice. However, this time, the primary administrator of the WhatsApp group, the mastermind behind the scheme, fell into the hands of the police in Maldah.

Yes, you heard it right.

According to sources, the apprehended individual is identified as Jiban Das, who not only serves as a home tutor but also runs his own coaching center. Maldah Police conducted the arrest in Balutola, Gopalpur, Maldah. Das was caught in the aftermath of the English exam at Anayetpur High School, where question papers were leaked, leading to the cancellation of the exam for seven students.

The police raid resulted in the recovery of seven mobile phones from the students, and even the cancellation of their exams couldn’t escape the pervasive influence of corruption. The incident occurred at Gopalpur High School, the epicenter of the scandal. The WhatsApp group named ‘MP 2024 QUESTION OUT,’ with 151 members, was intricately linked to the compromise of question papers. The administrator of this group turned out to be none other than the detained Jiban Das.

In the unfolding narrative, the plot thickens as the headmaster of Anayetpur High School, Badrujjamal, faces the media spotlight. Badrujjamal revealed that he became aware of the WhatsApp group through a student at the school. The group, under the provocative name ‘MP 2024 QUESTION OUT,’ had become a hub for distributing leaked papers.

This scandal not only casts a shadow over the integrity of the education system but also raises questions about the effectiveness of preventive measures implemented by the authorities. As the investigation progresses, the focus turns to unraveling the depth of the network involved in the leakage and whether it extends beyond the individual arrested.

The education sector in West Bengal finds itself at a crossroads, grappling with systemic issues that demand urgent attention. The Madhyamik Pariksha, once a symbol of academic rigor, now stands tarnished by the specter of corruption. The arrest of Jiban Das serves as a pivotal moment in the ongoing battle against such malpractices, but the road to restoring faith in the education system remains long and arduous.
