NIN365 Desk, Kolkata : Anticipation was in the air from early Tuesday morning in Kolkata as the entire state’s sky was laden with the promise of rainfall. According to the weather office, a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand is likely to develop into a low-pressure area, creating conditions for a cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal.
From Wednesday onwards, widespread rainfall is expected across the state. Hooghly, Howrah, and South 24 Parganas have already experienced early signs of rainfall. Weather forecasts suggest the possibility of a cyclonic vortex over Jharkhand on Wednesday, and simultaneously, the Bay of Bengal might witness the formation of a high-pressure system.
The amalgamation of these weather phenomena is anticipated to bring copious amounts of moisture into the state, resulting in substantial precipitation over the next four to five days. The weather office predicts active weather conditions till January 19th.
While Kolkata’s sky was overcast on Tuesday, rainfall was not significant. However, predictions indicate that Wednesday onwards, Kolkata might experience substantial rainfall. The city, along with the surrounding districts, is gearing up for an extended wet spell. The weather department assures that both these systems will remain active till January 19th.
Meanwhile, South Bengal, particularly districts like Purba Medinipur and Howrah, has already started experiencing the impact of the developing systems. There are expectations of gradual intensification of rainfall in these areas. However, it’s anticipated that post-January 20th, weather conditions will start to stabilize.
Kolkata’s air quality may witness improvement due to the expected rainfall. However, the sudden change in weather patterns has also led to an increase in humidity. The weather office suggests that temperatures will remain within the range of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal.
As the state braces for an extended wet spell, it’s advised to stay updated with the latest weather reports and follow necessary precautions. Keep an eye on local advisories, and be prepared for possible disruptions in daily activities due to the anticipated rainfall.
