News Desk, Kolkata :  In a dramatic courtroom scene at the Calcutta High Court, Advocate General (AG) Kishore Dutt was taken aback when Justice Thirthankar Ghosh questioned him about questioning the former Education Minister Parth Chattopadhyay and the infamous character “Kalighater Kaku” alias Sujay Krishna Bhadra. The judge, with surprise evident on his face, asked, “Why are you questioning them? Aren’t you the AG of the state?”

This Wednesday, during the hearing at Justice Ghosh’s chamber, the former Education Minister Parth Chattopadhyay and the enigmatic “Kalighater Kaku” alias Sujay Krishna Bhadra were the main accused in a high-profile employment scam case. In this case, both Parth and Sujay were being interrogated by the AG for their involvement in alleged malpractices. The AG, in a twist of fate, found himself being questioned by the High Court judge about his role in the state as the AG.

The judge, Justice Ghosh, candidly remarked, “If you want to question Parth Chattopadhyay as his lawyer, you need special permission from the state. If the state grants permission, there won’t be any issue in the court.” This surprising turn of events left everyone in the courtroom stunned, as the AG, who usually represents the state, found himself under scrutiny.

Interestingly, the legal battle involving Parth and Sujay had started long before Kishore Dutt assumed the position of AG in the state. The case, which has been dragging on for an extended period, has now become even more complex with Kishore holding the AG position. After taking over as the new AG, Kishore Dutt is now directly involved in questioning the accused in a case that predates his current role.

In an unexpected twist, Justice Ghosh, who initially gave permission for Parth and Sujay’s bail hearing, raised concerns about the nature of the questions posed by the AG. He emphasized that special permission would be required if the AG wanted to continue questioning the accused. This revelation left many wondering about the intricacies of the legal process and the dynamics at play.

It’s noteworthy that Justice Ghosh had previously granted bail to Shatarupa Bhattacharya, the wife of legislator Manik Bhattacharya, in a similar employment scam case. Since then, many, including Manik and his son, have sought bail in their respective cases, creating a buzz around Justice Ghosh’s courtroom.

The upcoming hearings promise more legal drama as Parth’s bail hearing is scheduled for February 8th, followed by Sujay’s case on February 5th. The courtroom anticipates intense cross-examinations and legal arguments, adding to the already prolonged legal battle.

As the legal saga unfolds, the dynamics between the AG, the judge, and the accused have brought unprecedented attention to the case. The intricacies of obtaining special permission for questioning, coupled with the historical context of the case, have made it a focal point in the legal landscape.

The courtroom, once a place of routine legal proceedings, has now become a stage for unexpected twists and turns. The upcoming hearings are eagerly awaited, with the public and legal enthusiasts alike anticipating the unfolding drama in the corridors of justice.
