NIN Web Desk : Dr subhrojyoti chattopadhyay ; USA Intelligence Chief Tulsi Gabbard expressed concern about Islamic terrorism and minority persecution in Bangladesh while visiting India. With her comments, Dhaka has been burning and chaos spread. Yunus government gave a counter statement on this issue on Monday night. Where Tulsi’s comments have been criticized as ‘baseless‘ and ‘misleading‘. Tulsi is on a two-and-a-half-day visit to India. In an interview she said “The incidents of torture and murder for a long time are unfortunate. President Trump and the USA government are worried about the incidents of persecution of minorities including Hindus, Buddhists, Christians.”
The USA intelligence chief said that Trump’s ministers have started talking with the caretaker Government of Bangladesh. Referring to the recent rise of Islamic fundamentalism in India’s neighboring countries, he said, “The threat of pro-Islamist terrorists and the global activities of various militant groups are directed towards one ideology and goal, which is Islamic caliphate.” After that, in a tone of warning, he said that Donald Trump is determined to identify Islamic fundamentalists and destroy them.
After Tulsi’s comment, Yunus government issued a counter statement on Monday. Sha said, “It is with great concern and sadness that the comments made by the USA DNI chief about Bangladesh are misleading and baseless. Her comments are harmful to the image and reputation of Bangladesh.” It is also reported, “Bangladesh is traditionally known for its peaceful and inclusive practices. Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in the fight against extremism. There is no concrete evidence that it is a sovereign state. We are fighting against extremism like many other countries in the world.”
However, the USA intelligence chief’s comments were rejected by Dhaka, but the reality says otherwise. After the July revolution last year, sectarian attacks in Bangladesh have become rampant. There have been attacks on thousands of Hindu temples as well as selective killings and rapes of minorities. The situation has not changed even after Yunus government took over rather, radicalism has become more and more prevalent.
Now the major question that arises in USA Intelligence was this Revolution only meant to dethrone Hasina and to make an Islamic state by the Radicals only?
