A student of the Indian Institute of Information Technology in Allahabad jumped to suicide just five minutes before his birthday by writing a two-line message to his mother. According to police sources, first year student Rahul Madala Chaitanya (20) committed suicide by jumping from the five-storey roof of the hostel which occured on Saturday night. According to the police preliminary investigation, he jumped due to mental exhaustion. Students complained that Rahul could not bear the intense pressure of education.
According to sources, Rahul, a resident of Telangana he was the elder of the two brothers and his father has a small business. When he jumped from the fifth floor of the hostel at 11:55 on Saturday night, the police were immediately informed, they rescued Rahul and took him to the hospital. The doctors examined him and declared him dead. According to police sources, no suicide note was found from the dead student. Although his mother claims, on Saturday night, at around 11:55 p.m., her son sent her a 2-line message. In that message, he said that he could not pass the first semester of B Tech due to the pressure of studies. In the message, he asked that his mother be well and take care of his father and younger brother. His mother immediately called the student after reading the message. The phone rang but no one picked up, she then called Rahul’s classmate and learned that he jumped from the 5th floor of the Hostel.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Rahul could not clear the recent exams. He was upset about that, for the last two or three days, he was thinking about it. Although unable to speak, Rahul has always been a brilliant student. He could not accept the shock of failing the exam, that’s what the investigators speculate. Meanwhile, IIIT Allahabad authorities claim that Rahul has been absent from classes for the last six months but according to family sources, they were not informed by the college. On the other hand, the students were outraged by Rahul’s death they demanded to take proper steps regarding it. The police are investigating the matter, apart from this IIIT Allahabad also ordered an internal investigation by forming a three-member committee into the death of the student. The complaints of the students have also been ordered to be looked into seriously.
