News Desk, Kolkata : Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP organized a massive gathering at Delhi’s Ram Lila Maidan in January of that year. This time, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is gearing up for another two-day National Assembly in a similar fashion. The event will kick off with the traditional address by the BJP’s national president, JP Nadda, and culminate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s spirited speech, donning his iconic ‘vocal tonic’ just before the electoral battle.
With the goal of securing more than 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has already announced its ambitious target. In 2019, the party had achieved significant success with 282 seats during the last National Assembly. Currently, the BJP holds 303 seats in the Lok Sabha, and it governs in 12 states, with additional support in six others. The preparations for this year’s National Assembly seem grander compared to the one held five years ago.
Notably, the venue is shifting from Delhi’s historic Ram Lila Maidan to the India Mandapam created for the G-20 Summit at Pragati Maidan. According to BJP sources, around 8,000 party leaders from across the country are expected to participate in this grand assembly. Instructions regarding the attendees from Bengal have also been issued, with seven members of the National Committee set to join. Additionally, 42 members from Bengal will be part of the National Council.
Several prominent leaders from Bengal, including former state BJP president Dilip Ghosh, have received invitations. Rahul Sinha, a former state assembly speaker and currently a member of the National Committee, is expected to make his presence felt. Subhendu Adhikari, the opposition leader in Bengal, is also part of the National Committee. Shubhendu Adhikari has recently gained prominence and was elected as an MLA in the last state elections.
Representatives from every state have received invitations, including members from state committees. Mithun Chakraborty, who is associated with the state committee in Bengal, has also been invited. Besides, the heads of each zone and division will attend. In Bengal alone, 126 individuals, including each constituency’s in-charge, convener, and spokesperson, are set to participate. Notably, Bharati Ghosh, a former IPS officer and BJP spokesperson, has been invited as a national face.
The BJP has made substantial progress in Bengal over the last five years, transforming from having only two MPs and three MLAs to a party that now controls 18 parliamentary constituencies. In this National Assembly, the leaders are expected to share their experiences and strategies to motivate the party workers for the upcoming elections.
Furthermore, the BJP has also included members from various committees, such as discipline, finance, and election committees, in the list of attendees. Shyamik Bhattacharya, the state president of the BJP in Bengal, and Shamik Bhattacharya, a prominent leader, are among those expected to attend.
This National Assembly not only marks a crucial juncture for the BJP but also sets the tone for the upcoming elections. The party’s national president, JP Nadda, emphasized the importance of training for the two-day event, indicating that it will serve as a platform for last-minute preparations on how to tackle the election battle effectively. Amit Shah’s role will be pivotal, providing guidance and inspiration to all leaders in the party.
As the party gears up for the National Assembly, the BJP has introduced online registration for attendees, charging a nominal fee of ₹100. This move aims to streamline the process and ensure a well-organized event. With the anticipation of enthusiastic participation, the BJP envisions this National Assembly as a unifying force that will energize its leaders and workers for the challenging electoral journey ahead.
In conclusion, the BJP’s National Assembly is not just a political gathering; it symbolizes the party’s strength, unity, and determination to achieve its electoral goals. With the changing venue and the inclusion of leaders from various states, including Bengal, this event is poised to become a significant milestone in the BJP’s journey towards the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. As the leaders gather, the air is filled with anticipation, setting the stage for a dynamic and impactful National Assembly that will echo in the corridors of Indian politics for years to come.
